How important is education ? While there are no fool proof guarantees about how a human being will turn out, a person’s education can play a major role in forming the thoughts,attitudes,hopes, dreams, character, and direction of one’s life. Every bit as important are the types of people that surround the child in the educational process. Who do they respect, interact with, learn their worldview from? There has been many a child/teenager who has been taught the right things, but who has been subverted by so-called friends who helped open doors of sin and rebellion that led to destruction. There have also been so-called religious leaders who in their self – righteous legalistic attitudes have turned youth away from what the youngsters thought was Christianity

There is also organized, systematic education that is evil, diabolic, and twists the human heart in hatred toward other human beings. Hitler and the Nazis set up an educational system designed in part to teach hatred of the Jewish race.

Success in shaping the ” body and soul” of future Nazis depended on teacher’s commitment to Nazi principles – chief among them a view of human nature centered on race and struggle, a belief in absolute Aryan superiority, and a communitarian ethos anchored in Volk  and Fuhrer. Ethnic and all ” lesser” races, scorn for universal humanism, and hostility to Christianity. With the swastika in their hearts, Nazi youth were taught to love fellow Aryans and expel outsiders from their moral community. Interior Minister Wilhelm Frick put the Nazis aims bluntly in 1933, ” The primary obligation of the school is to raise youth for service to the Volk and state in the spirit of National Socialism.” ( The Nazi Conscience, Claudia Koonz,pg.131)

Hitler became the image and the voice for the Volk and state, and the “spirit of National Socialism”  led Germans into the new community that supplanted the dead state religions of Lutheranism and Catholicism. The remnant of churches that resisted the Nazis paid the price for their faithfulness

In like manner, Israel today faces terrorists who teach children from the earliest ages to hate the Jewish people, and to aspire to martyrdom.  Peace is not an option for those who believe that Israel must be destroyed. For many Palestinians, compromise would be only a temporary respite to regroup and rebuild for the final attacks that will destroy Israel.

   Here is a question for each of you ; Who is teaching your child/children ? What are they being taught ? Who are the major influences in their lives ? We need wisdom, discernment, and love to be the parents we are called to be. And when we fail we need to confess our sin, repent, and walk with the Lord. “ The just shall live by faith.”  Life is full of uncertainties,pitfalls, and sorrows, and yet we are called to walk as children of light,putting on the armor of God and fighting the good fight of faith
