Tim Tebow’s Pro-Life Commercial

Some info on the Tim Tebow commercial that will air during the Superbowl – from Vitamin Z  -    http://takeyourvitaminz.blogspot.com/
Tim Tebow Super Bowl Commercial Hype

There is a lot of hype going around right now about the Tim Tebow pro-life commercial that is going to air during the Super Bowl.  You can read a bit about this here.  Many pro-choicers are calling for CBS to retract it.
Jay Watts writes in response:

Tim Tebow and his mother Pam in conjunction with private donors and Focus on the Family have legally purchased commercial air time during the Super Bowl to tell the story of how his mother was advised to abort him over medical concerns. Specifically there was something wrong with Tim that made it medically advisable to terminate his life. The content of the ad has been reviewed and approved by the network as acceptable. The theme of the brief spot is “Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life.” And according to abortion supporters, supposedly obsessed with freedom and choice, you should not be allowed to see this spot.
Odd isn’t it? Freedom, they cry! Liberty and equality for all and don’t you attempt to force your view of morality on others. And yet it is that very same group that is now demanding that CBS not allow this perfectly legal and approved spot to air. Their desire for freedom is so specifically and narrowly defined as their own right to destroy inconvenient human life that the hypocrisy of this stance remains hidden from them. It is not freedom but fiat that they seek, and this fact is embarrassingly clear every time they seek to bully and quash the basic right to express contrary opinions.

Terrell Clemmons also writes:

An advertisement about a mother and her successful football player son, shown during a football game, is “not being respectful of other people’s lives.” Really?

“It is offensive to hold one way out as being a superior way over everybody else’s.” Really? Or is that merely Ms. O’Neill’s way being held out as superior?

Yet to be determined: What will CBS deem to be the superior way?

Just as an aside, would you please please please join me in advocating for the complete stoppage of all the “tolerance” talk. Tolerance is not the issue and it never has been. If anyone tells you to stop being “intolerant”, or that you should be more tolerant because of a view that you hold, just suggest something like this:

“Why are you asking me to be more tolerant?  That in itself is not very tolerant.  If you were really consistent in your view of tolerance you would accept ALL views, including mine, as valuable.  But we both know that is impossible.  No one wants to be “tolerant” of Hitler and his views on the Jews. So we both know that real tolerance is an impossibility.
Let’s just get down to what really is going on here.  We both disagree about something.  I think I am right, and you think you are right.  Most likely, we both can’t be right.  Do you think we can give reasons for or against our beliefs and not kill each other?  I do.  So why don’t we cease with all the “tolerance” talk that really doesn’t get either of us anywhere and give reasons for why we believe what we believe.  That way, maybe we can find out what is really true.  Peace-loving truth is what matters here much more than tolerance.”

America: More Pro-Life Than You Think

From Reality Check -  http://thetruthmechanic.com/

Interesting article from Al Mohler on abortion. In light of the current health care plan it is a timely topic. Will your tax dollars be used to fund abortions in the U.S.?

NewsNote: An Amazing Article on Abortion in New York Magazine

Week by week, New York magazine offers insight into the culture

and consciousness of the nation’s trendy population in Manhattan. This magazine, combined with The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, and The New Yorker, provides constant insight into the thinking of the New York elites.

The magazine recently featured a major article on abortion, and it just might be the most important article on this issue in recent history.

In “The Abortion Distortion — Just How Pro-choice is America, Really?” writer Jennifer Senior offers an incredibly insightful and important essay on the moral status of abortion in the American mind. Senior is clearly writing to a New York readership — expected to be overwhelmingly pro-choice and settled in a posture of abortion advocacy. Given the passage of the so-called “Stupak amendment” to the health-care reform bill adopted by the House of Representatives, many in the pro-choice movement responded with amazement that a pro-life minority have been able to muster such support. Jennifer Senior posed the most awkward question for her readers: Is America really pro-choice?

Consider this:

According to a Gallup poll from July, 60 percent of Americans think abortion should be either illegal or “legal only in a few circumstances.” Only seventeen states pay for the procedure for poor women beyond the standards of the 1977 Hyde Amendment—meaning if the woman’s life is in danger or she’s been the victim of rape or incest. Just two months before the health-care bill’s passage in the House, a Rasmussen poll found that 48 percent of the public didn’t want abortion covered in any government-subsidized health plan, while just 13 percent did. (Thirty-two percent believed in a “neutral” approach—though what on Earth that means is hard to say.)

As a matter of fact, Senior went all the way back to 1973 in order to document her assessment that America was never as pro-choice as many liberals had assumed. The legal impact of Roe v. Wade could not overcome the fact that, as Jeffrey Rosen of George Washington University noted, the decision “was one of the few Supreme Court decisions that was out of step with mainstream public opinion.”

Senior suggests that America is “a very ambivalent pro-choice nation.” She acknowledges the numerical data that indicates an increasing pro-life direction for the American people and, speaking to a pro-choice readership, laments that “it sometimes gets lost how truly numerically challenged we are.”

So, just how did the Stupak amendment pass?

The idea that a bunch of pro-life rogue wingnuts have hijacked the agenda and thwarted the national will is a convenient, but fanciful, belief. Even with an 81-person margin in the House, and even with a passionately committed female, pro-choice Speaker, it was the Democrats who managed to pass a bill that, arguably, would restrict access to abortion more aggressively than any state measure or legal case since the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade.

Along the way, Jennifer Senior makes some fascinating observations. In terms of the motivation to be engaged in the issue of abortion, she quotes Harrison Hickman, a former NARAL pollster, as saying: “If you believe that choosing the wrong side of the issue means spending eternal life in Hades, of course you’re going to be more focused on it.” That is a very powerful affirmation of the fact that one’s worldview really does matter.

The battle in the Senate over the provision to fund abortions has really heated up,and is far from over.

National Right to Life Urges Defeat of Health Care Bill
After Senate Votes to Keep Abortion in Federal Programs

WASHINGTON (December 8, 2009) — By a vote of a vote of 54 to 45, the U.S. Senate today tabled (killed) an amendment to remove elective abortion from the new federal programs that would be created by pending health care legislation. The following statement was issued by the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of right-to-life organizations in all 50 states, and may be attributed to NRLC Legislative Director Douglas Johnson.

A majority of senators today voted to keep abortion covered in the proposed federal government insurance program, and to subsidize private insurance plans that cover abortion on demand. Now, the vote on cloture on the bill itself will become the key vote on whether to put the federal government into the abortion business. We will oppose cloture on the bill, which would require 60 affirmative votes. In addition, a number of pro-life Democrats in the House, who supported passage of health care legislation on November 7, will not vote for the Senate bill in its current form. So, this is a long way from over.

Your (Our) Hands Are Full of Bloodshed

In Obama, abortion, evil on October 10, 2009 at 1:32 am

Here’s the powerful ad from BornAliveTruth.org:

Can you imagine not giving babies their basic human rights, no matter how they entered our world? My name is Gianna Jessen, born 31 years ago after a failed abortion. I’m a survivor, as are many others… but if Barack Obama had his way, I wouldn’t be here.
Unfortunately, Barack Obama voted four times against affording these babies their most basic human right. I have serious concerns about Senator Obama’s record and views on this issue, given he voted against these protections four times as a state Senator. Just as abuse victims share their stories to educate the public, fight for the common good and hope that as a result politicians do what’s right, I felt it was important to come forward and give these new born babies a voice.
I am living proof these babies have a right to live, and I invite you to learn more about Senator Obama’s record on this important issue.

Barack Obama voted 4 times to support infanticide.
Today, Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize.
Unbelievable.

So when you spread out your hands in prayer,I will hide my eyes from you,Yes,even though you multiply prayers,I will not listen.Your hands are full of bloodshed. Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Cease to do evil,Learn to do good;Seek justice,Reprove the ruthless;Defend the orphan,Plead for the widow. Come now,let us reason together,Says the Lord,Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be white as snow;though they are red like crimson they will be like wool. If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword. Truly, the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isaiah 1:15-20)

Pro-Abortion Politicians and Lady Macbeth:An Adaptation

In abortion on September 8, 2009 at 1:34 am

What is it they do now? Look how they rub their hands.

It is an accustom’d action with them,to seem thus washing their hands. I have known them continue in this a quarter of an hour.

Yet here’s a spot.

Hark, they speak.I will set down what comes to them,to satisfy my remembrance the more strongly.

Out,damn’d spot,I say!- One;two: why then tis time to do’t.- Hell is murky.- Fie,my lords, fie,a protester, and afeard? What need we fear who knows it,when none can call our pow’r to accompt?-Yet who would have thought that the unborn had so much blood in them? (Macbeth Act 5 scene 1,26-40)

Presidential Fabrications and Bearing False Witness

In Obama, abortion on September 3, 2009 at 1:43 am

Bearing false witness is serious business. The person doing so is not only deceiving another person or persons, but breaking the ninth commandment,”You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” (Exodus 20:16) There are numerous Scriptures that warn against lying, and of the importance of speaking the truth. God commands that we speak the truth, and as Christians we are to speak the truth in love. That is,with a desire that the person being spoken to will receive the truth and leave the falsehood that they have been promulgating.

The president spoke to 140,00 people of various “faith communities” about his health care plan. He referred to the issue of health care as a “core ethical and moral obligation”,and called on those listening to his call to mobilize and help pass his legislation. He also stated that,”you have heard that this is going to mean government funding of abortions. Not true.” This was stated in the context that those who are actively opposing his health care plan are “bearing false witness”. Is the president telling the truth or is he “bearing false witness” himself? Since the issue is abortion and we are talking about the murder of unborn children,we need to know . Here is some information from National Right to Life with a number of links that give additional information:

The Obama Administration, working with powerful Democratic leaders in Congress, is trying to smuggle into federal law sweeping expansions of access to abortion on demand, including federal funding of abortion, through “health care reform” legislation. The White House and congressional Democratic leaders are pushing for quick votes on these bills. If enacted in their current form, these bills would result in the greatest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade. To read a summary of the current legislative situation and to learn what you can do to help, click here.

FactCheck.Org:  “Which Side is Fabricating on Abortion?” The independent FactCheck.org has examined President Obama’s August 19 claim that it is “not true” and “a fabrication” that his health plan will “mean government funding of abortion,” and NRLC’s challenge to the Obama claim.  Read the full FactCheck.org article here.

Obama Says “Government Funding of Abortion” is “Fabrication,” But the White House-Backed House Bill Explicitly Authorizes It – August 19, 2009

Key Points on Pro-Abortion Provisions in Obama-Backed Health Care Bills — August 26, 2009 (PDF

Here  are some of the observations made by FactCheck:

Analysis   ( From Fact Check)

Obama’s “Fabrications” Remark

Obama’s remarks Wednesday came during a telephone conference call to thousands of listeners, organized by religious organizations supporting his health care proposals. He said that “there has been a lot of misinformation in this debate, and there are some folks out there who are frankly bearing false witness.” And then he lumped in abortion coverage at the end of a list of claims that he branded as untrue:

Obama, Aug. 19: We are closer to achieving that reform than we have ever been. And that’s why we’re seeing some of the divisive and deceptive attacks. You’ve heard some of them. Ludicrous ideas. Let me just give you one example, this notion that we are somehow setting up “death panels” that would decide on whether elderly people get to live or die. That is just an extraordinary lie. This is based on a provision in the House legislation that would allow Medicare to reimburse you if you wanted counseling on how to set up a living will or other end of life decisions. Entirely voluntary, it gives you an option that people who can afford fancy lawyers already exercise. That’s the kind of distortion that we’ve been hearing too much of out here.

We’ve heard that this is all designed to provide health insurance to illegal aliens. That’s not true. There’s a specific provision in the bill that does not provide health insurance for those individuals. You’ve heard that there’s a government takeover of health care. That’s not true. You’ve heard that this is all going to mean government funding of abortion. Not true. This is all, these are all fabrications that have been put out there in order to discourage people from meeting what I consider to be a core ethical and moral obligation, and that is that we look out for one another, that I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper. And in the wealthiest nation on earth right now, we are neglecting to live up to that call.

The White House did not post any transcript of the president’s words, but sponsors of the conference call, a coalition of faith-based groups supporting an overhaul of the health insurance system, posted the full audio of the president’s call on its Web site. His words come near the very end of the recording, and we transcribed them from the recording.

Abortion foes quickly denounced Obama’s statement as untrue. The NRLC’s Johnson said “the bill backed by the White House (H.R. 3200) explicitly authorizes the government plan to cover all elective abortions.” And our analysis shows that Johnson’s statement is correct. Though we of course take no position on whether the legislation should allow or not allow coverage for abortions, the House bill does just that.

The House leadership’s bill (H.R. 3200) actually made no mention of abortion when it was introduced. Johnson refers to an amendment to the bill adopted by the House Energy and Commerce Committee July 30. Abortion rights proponents characterize it as a compromise, but it hasn’t satisfied the anti-abortion side. Offered by Democratic Rep. Lois Capps of California, the amendment was approved narrowly by the committee, 30 – 28, with most but not all Democrats voting in favor and no Republicans backing it. The Capps amendment states that some abortions “shall” be covered by the “public option” plan, specifically those types of abortions that Congress allows to be covered under Medicaid, under the so-called “Hyde Amendment,” which has been attached regularly to appropriations bills for many years. These are abortions performed in cases or rape or incest, or to save the life of the mother.

As for other types of abortions, the Capps amendment leaves it to the secretary of Health and Human Services to decide whether or not they will be covered. It says, “Nothing in this Act shall be construed as preventing the public health insurance option from providing” abortion services that would not be legal for Medicaid coverage. Says the NRLC’s Johnson: “The Capps Amendment MANDATES that the public plan cover any Medicaid-fundable abortions, and AUTHORIZES the secretary to cover all other abortions. … [F]rom day one, she [Secretary Kathleen Sebelius] is authorized to pay for them all. And, she will.”

We can’t say what anyone will do in the future. But Obama himself said on July 17, 2007, that “[i]n my mind, reproductive care is essential care” and would be covered by his public insurance plan. He was addressing Planned Parenthood:

Obama, July 17, 2007: We’re going to set up a public plan that all persons and all women can access if they don’t have health insurance. It will be a plan that will provide all essential services, including reproductive services, as well as mental health services and disease management services, because part of our interest is to make sure that we’re putting more money into preventive care.

Obama has promoted abortion throughout his political career. It is also very obvious that he is bearing false witness on a number of issues related to his health plan( Sarah Palin vs. Dr. Death) . He,like all of us,will answer for his words and actions before a holy God.May we be found in Christ, and may we be truth tellers.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.(Matthew 10:28)
